Dental implant: types of dental implant and treatment stages

Losing one or more teeth can significantly affect your oral health and self-esteem. Fortunately, modern dentistry offers several types of dental implant that provide long-lasting results and a natural appearance. If you are looking for the best clinic to perform your dental implant in São Paulo, ImplArt Dental Clinic is the ideal choice! Recognized as the Best Dental Clinic in Brazil by the Global Clinic Rating, ImplArt offers the most advanced techniques and a highly qualified team to guarantee the success of your treatment.

In this guide, we’ll explore the main types of dental implant and treatment stages, explaining the benefits of each and how to choose the best option for you. In addition, we’ll demystify dental implant surgery, showing you that it’s simpler than it looks.

What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is an effective solution for replacing teeth lost due to tooth decay, gum disease, trauma or other oral problems. The implant is a structure inserted into the bone and serves as a base for crowns, dentures and the prosthetic protocol.

This procedure not only restores the function of natural teeth, but also improves chewing, speech and the aesthetics of the smile, positively impacting the patient’s self-esteem. At the ImplArt Clinic, we use different types of dental implants, including titanium and ceramic pins and zirconia implants.

Why Are Dental Implants Necessary?

In addition to improving appearance, dental implants are essential for oral health and general well-being. Implants help maintain facial structure, prevent adjacent teeth from shifting and prevent problems with the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). When a tooth is lost, the surrounding teeth can move into the empty space, causing misalignment and other problems. It is therefore ideal for the lost tooth to be replaced quickly with an implant.

At the ImplArt Clinic, the types of dental implant we offer are carefully designed for complete oral rehabilitation, with the best solution in mind for each patient.

What is Dental Implant Surgery like?

Dental implant surgery is a procedure carried out by a dental surgeon specializing in implant dentistry, called an implant dentist. Dental implant surgery is performed under local anesthesia and intravenous sedation may also be used. The surgery can last from 15 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the case. You can receive simultaneous bone grafting when necessary. In addition, implant surgery can be performed together with the extraction of the compromised tooth, in most cases.

Dental implant stages

Implant surgery begins with the application of local anesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort. In some cases, we use intravenous sedation to reduce the patient’s perception during the procedure. Sedation is specially designed for those who are afraid of the dentist or who want more comfort during the procedure.

The implant is then inserted into the bone to serve as an artificial root. After the implant has been placed, the gum is sutured or, in cases where implant surgery is performed without cutting, only a piece called a scar is installed. The process is the same for all types of dental implant.

Does Implant Surgery Hurt?

A common concern among patients is pain. After all, everyone wants to know if dental implant surgery hurts. At the ImplArt Clinic, we ensure that the procedure is as comfortable as possible. The gum area is completely anaesthetized, and the bone where the implant is fixed has few innervations, making the procedure very smooth. For patients with a phobia of dental treatment, we offer the option of sedation, providing a more peaceful experience. There is also the option of electronic anesthesia, which can help patients with a fear of needles.

The post-operative period is managed with painkillers and antibiotics to minimize any discomfort and prevent infections. Read more: “Does an implant hurt or not?“.

What’s the Aftermath of Implant Surgery?

After surgery, the patient must follow the implant dentist ‘s guidelines to ensure a speedy recovery without complications. At the ImplArt Clinic, we recommend resting for at least 24 hours, avoiding mouthwash and maintaining a diet of soft, cold food. Physical activity and exposure to the sun should also be limited during recovery. The recovery period is usually the same regardless of the type of dental implant. The post-operative period of implant surgery is closely monitored, and after 7 days the patient returns to the Clinic to monitor healing.

Who Needs Dental Implants?

Dental implants are indicated for people who have lost one or more teeth due to infection, periodontal disease, caries or trauma. At the ImplArt Clinic, we assess each case individually, using fully digital X-rays and CT scans, to determine the bone structure and the most suitable type of implant. It is essential that this assessment is carried out by a qualified professional to ensure safe and effective treatment. The exams are carried out directly at the ImplArt Clinic, bringing more comfort and precision to the patient. Find out more about the tests carried out at ImplArt: Modern tests for dental implants.

When Are Dental Implants Not Recommended?

Although they are an effective solution, dental implants are not recommended for children and young people in the bone growth phase, as the implants do not follow the growth of the face. Patients with controlled diabetes and hypertension, on the other hand, can have dental implants. In addition, there are currently several types of dental implant, capable of serving even those with little bone.
At the ImplArt Clinic, each case is rigorously assessed to ensure that the treatment is safe and suited to each patient’s needs.

How Can Implants Improve Your Self-Esteem and Quality of Life?

The smile is an important component of self-esteem and personal image. Losing teeth can negatively affect a person’s emotional and social well-being. According to studies, millions of Brazilians live without any teeth, which directly affects their ability to chew, speak and, above all, their self-esteem. At the ImplArt Clinic, dental implants are an effective solution for restoring patients’ confidence and freedom, allowing them to smile again with confidence and satisfaction.

Types of Dental Implants Available at the ImplArt Clinic

Learn about the main types of dental implant offered by the ImplArt Clinic:

1. single-unit dental implant:

The individual dental implant is one of the types of dental implant offered at the ImplArt Clinic. It is ideal for replacing a single tooth, where a titanium or zirconia pin is placed in the site of the missing tooth. Once the implant has osseointegrated, a permanent prosthesis is installed.

2. Multiple dental implants:

Multiple implants or multi-tooth implants are another type of dental implant. It is recommended for replacing three consecutive teeth using two implants. The prosthesis of the central tooth rests on the gum, providing an economical and effective solution.

3. Total implant with Protocol Prosthesis:

A total implant with a protocol prosthesis is the solution for those who have lost all the teeth in an arch. In this type of dental implant, the fixed prosthesis is supported by four to six implants, offering complete rehabilitation of aesthetics and chewing. The protocol prosthesis can be made of zirconia, porcelain or resin. The most modern material for protocol prostheses is zirconia.

4. All-on-4 dental implant

The All on four implant is a type of dental implant that uses four implants to support a complete fixed prosthesis. The All on 4 implant is ideal for those who have lost all the teeth in an arch and is simpler than the Protocol Prosthesis , as it is made of resin, called metal-plastic.

5. Zygomatic Implant

The Zygomatic Implant is one of the types of dental implant, but it is indicated exclusively for patients with severe maxillary atrophy, where the bone does not have enough volume and when it is decided not to perform bone grafting.

Dental Implant Models Used at ImplArt Dental Clinic

In addition to the different types of dental implant, we also use various models, which differ in material and shape:

  • Short Implant: Indicated for patients who normally have little bone mass in the jaw area, avoiding the need for bone grafts.
  • Titanium implant: Made from titanium, known for its biocompatibility and resistance.
  • Zirconia implant: Similar to the color of natural teeth, ideal for patients with thin or atrophied gums.
  • Nanotechnological implants: These are types of dental implant with a surface treated with nanometric particles that stimulate healing and osseointegration.

Complete dental implants improve chewing, self-esteem and aesthetics

A complete dental implant is a fixed dental prosthesis on implants that makes up for the absence of all the teeth and improves chewing, speech and the look of the smile. It is called a protocol prosthesis and aims to re-establish the patient’s chewing function by inserting a dental implant in the upper or lower arch.

There are currently many types of protocol prosthesis to be installed on dental implants. Among them is translucent zirconia, which is the most modern option because it uses a computerized system for its execution, which improves precision, speeds up results and allows for superior aesthetics combined with high resistance.

The dental implant, on the other hand, can be made of titanium, or even ceramic, in Straumann‘s modern version, Pure Ceramic, or even the fast-healing titanium version, Slactive. There is also a national dental implant option, Neodent.

Complete dental implants to improve chewing and self-esteem

We are currently working with materials that are very comparable to natural teeth, both in terms of function and aesthetics. Patients who have lost their teeth for various reasons can have consequences that affect their health and well-being.

The absence of natural teeth (edentulism) hinders the ability to chew food, compromising the intake of essential nutrients for health and quality of life.

In addition, the person with total edentulism has their social life affected because they can’t smile and speak confidently in front of other people. As a result, they tend to become reclusive and have low self-esteem.

Undeniably, treatment with implants improves the patient’s quality of life, raising their self-esteem and allowing them to eat comfortably.

Advantages of a fixed prosthesis over a removable prosthesis

The fact that the prosthesis is fixed on implants makes it more comfortable and safer for the wearer to chew and speak than a mobile prosthesis, which can sometimes become maladjusted and move or even hurt.

Implants can be placed in different ways, as it varies according to the patient’s condition, especially if they have been edentulous for many years.

The most common method is to place six titanium implant pins in the upper jaw and four in the lower jaw. A temporary prosthesis is also always planned so that the patient doesn’t lose teeth.

After the healing period (which varies according to each case), dental prostheses can be attached to the implants for complete oral rehabilitation.

Titanium implants replace lost tooth roots, while prostheses are similar in shape, color and strength to natural dental crowns.

Learn more about the full-arch implant.

Natural result of implants for all teeth

The complete dental implant is very similar to natural human teeth. As a result, the patient’s smile is once again harmonious and difficult for other people to distinguish as a prosthesis.

Social interaction is restored and the patient has more confidence to smile and speak. When the patient receives a complete dental implant, they are able to chew food that they couldn’t chew before.

This is a way of ensuring a richer, more nutritious diet and that the food reaches the stomach properly prepared for digestion. ImplArt Odontologia specializes in dental implants, in titanium or ceramic, and modern computerized prostheses, Zirconia or Cerec porcelain, in addition to traditional methods.

Total implantation of all teeth

Implantation of all teeth: total

Oral rehabilitation with total implantation of all teeth (total implantation) is certainly a solution for people who have lost all the teeth in an arch or who would like to replace their mobile prosthesis with a fixed prosthesis on implants. The loss of teeth certainly damages a person’s quality of life and self-esteem.

The beauty of the smile is compromised and chewing is impaired. A fixed prosthesis is certainly capable of transforming the lives of those who suffer from missing teeth. However, implant rehabilitation is recommended assoon as possible after tooth loss to prevent bone loss (bone resorption).

The implants are surgically placed in the bone – usually 6 in the maxilla (upper) and 4 in the mandible (lower). Once healed, a prosthesis is fixed onto them. The dental prosthesis can be made from different materials, ranging from resin to porcelain with a metal-free zirconia structure (more aesthetic and free of metals).

implantation of all teeth

How total implants are done (all the teeth in the arch)

The time that elapses between the installation of the implants and the placement of the definitive prosthesis varies according to each case, which is assessed individually. In short, the treatment time can vary from four months to a year, depending on the patient’s condition. However, in some selected cases, it is possible to perform full-arch implants and have all the teeth fixed with implants on the same day.

This technique, called immediate loading or rapid loading, gives patients great satisfaction due to the rapid results. All of the ImplArt clinic’s dental prostheses are made in a complete in-house dental prosthesis laboratory, which guarantees the quality of the products delivered.

In addition, we work exclusively with the most modern computerized technologies called Cad/Cam, which increase the precision of the parts produced. Click here to find out more.

Advantages of a fixed prosthesis on dental implants

  • More comfortable for the gums
  • More secure chewing, speaking and smiling
  • Restores the aesthetics of the smile
  • Free roof of mouth
  • It paralyzes or prevents bone resorption (a common phenomenon in people who lose their teeth).

Implanting several teeth at the same time

The loss of multiple teeth can certainly affect your ability to chew, as well as the beauty of your smile. The best option for replacing multiple teeth is certainly the placement of a multi-tooth implant, i.e. the placement of several implants and the attachment of a dental prosthesis. A multi-tooth implant can also be called a total implant or a protocol prosthesis.

Fixed prosthesis or implants with several teeth provide good chewing ability and aesthetics

It is certainly recommended that implant surgery be carried out as soon as possible after tooth loss. This prevents bone atrophy (progressive bone loss) from occurring. Implants for 3 teeth, 4 teeth or more have some advantages over other types of treatment.

Advantages of multi-tooth implant rehabilitation

  • Neighboring teeth remain intact
  • The prosthesis is attached to the implants, offering comfort and safety for the user to chew, smile and speak
  • Ease of treatment, as the prosthetic components are prefabricated (approximately six sessions)
  • Not affected by cavities and infiltrations
  • In specific cases, it is possible to place the provisional prosthesis immediately after implant placement (immediate loading)
  • The installation of the implant prevents or stops the bone atrophy that normally occurs after tooth loss.

Implants with 3 teeth, 4 teeth or more have some advantages over other types of treatment with removable prostheses. As an alternative to placing several implants, we only have techniques that use common removable prostheses, without the use of implants. However, the indication is made after evaluating each case.

Should I have several teeth implanted or wear dentures?

Multi-tooth dental implants are an alternative to conventional dentures for those who have lost many or all of their teeth. They consist of placing metal pins, usually titanium, in the jawbone or maxilla, which serve as a support for fixed dental prostheses. These prostheses can be made of materials such as porcelain or zirconia, which mimic the appearance of natural teeth.

Multi-tooth dental implants have many advantages over conventional dentures, which are supported by the gums and can come loose or cause wounds. That’s why we’ve listed some of these advantages below:

Aesthetics, comfort and safety: Dental implants are more natural, comfortable and safe than dentures, which can move or fall out. They allow the patient to smile, speak and chew with more confidence and without fear of losing the prosthesis.

Preservation of bone against resorption: Dental implants preserve the bone structure of the mouth, preventing the atrophy that occurs after tooth loss. Bone atrophy can cause problems such as gum resorption, changes to the shape of the face, difficulty adapting dentures and the loss of other teeth.

Improved chewing function: In addition, dental implants allow for better chewing, speech and taste perception. Conventional dentures can interfere with chewing, making digestion and nutrition difficult. They can also hinder speech, causing noises or difficulty in pronunciation. In addition, they can cover the palate, reducing taste sensitivity.

Durability and resistance: Dental implants are considered to be more durable and resistant to cavities and infiltrations than dentures. They are made of materials that do not wear out or deteriorate over time. They are also easier to clean, as they don’t need to be removed for cleaning.

Conclusions on getting several teeth implanted at ImplArt Dentistry Clinic

The loss of multiple teeth can affect chewing and the aesthetics of the smile. The ideal solution is to place dental implants to replace several teeth, allowing a fixed prosthesis to be attached.

Zirconia prosthesis for dental implants

The zirconia prosthesis is a white ceramic used to make the internal structure of a dental implant prosthesis. It is currently considered the most aesthetic material for this purpose, as its shade is very similar to natural dentin and it also allows more light to pass through (translucency).

Zirconia provides a metal-free crown with high strength and aesthetics

A crown with a zirconia structure is an aesthetic alternative to a metal structure (metal-free crown). Although very resistant, the metal structure can leave the crown looking darkened when exposed to light.

In addition, if the patient has remodeling of the gums over time, a grayish line can appear at the gingival level and cause aesthetic compromise in the smile. For this reason, metal frameworks are often recommended for posterior crowns (which require a lot of strength, but not much aesthetics).

Meanwhile, the zirconia structure can be especially suitable for the anterior region, the most visible part of the arch where aesthetic requirements are greatest. The process of making a zirconia crown is computerized using Cad/Cam systems.

When you lose a tooth, you can have a zirconia implant placed, which is a piece of white ceramic that sits in place of the tooth root. After healing, you can place a zirconia prosthesis, which is a ceramic cap that sits on top of the implant and looks like a real tooth. This combination has some benefits, such as

  • Beauty: zirconia is as white as teeth and doesn’t turn the gums gray like metal. What’s more, zirconia is transparent and shines like teeth, making your smile look more beautiful and natural.
  • Health: zirconia is a material that adapts well to bone and gums without causing allergies or inflammation. This helps with the healing and firmness of the implant.
  • Resistance: zirconia is a very strong material that can withstand the forces of chewing and does not wear out easily. This makes the implant and prosthesis last longer.

Therefore, the zirconia implant together with the zirconia prosthesis is a good option to recover the function and beauty of lost teeth, with a safe, comfortable and durable material.

The computer-designed zirconia prosthesis

Initially, the teeth are scanned using intraoral scanners to generate a 3D digital mold. The design of the crown is made on a computer and executed on 3D tooth printers.

Finally, the crown receives a layer of porcelain that makes it look very similar to a natural tooth and can be fixed onto the dental implant. Among the indications for zirconia crowns on implants are single crowns, bridges and complete fixed prostheses.

The main advantages of a zirconia prosthesis are:

  • High aesthetics
  • Resistance
  • Natural result
  • The fixed implant prosthesis is safer and more comfortable, and does not have the mobility of a mobile prosthesis
  • Improves smile aesthetics and self-esteem
  • Improves chewing and speech
  • Does not stain as it can with resin prostheses

Single Tooth Dental Implant

The lack of a tooth, usually lost as a result of an accident or damaged by decay, can be easily replaced by implanting a tooth (which works like a tooth root) and fixing a dental crown (which imitates the color and shape of the natural tooth) onto this dental implant. This treatment is called single tooth implant.

Most of the time, the surgery is very simple and quick and, depending on the type of implant chosen, the patient can be rehabilitated with the final definitive prosthesis in just a few months. This applies to both single and total implants.

Nowadays there are fast-healing implants, Slactive implants, for which osseointegration takes place in 1 month. In this way, the patient’s self-esteem and quality of life can be restored in a short space of time. In addition, there are now very modern treatments without the use of any metal. This is possible with the ceramic implant and the Pure Zirconia Crown, or Cerec Pure Porcelain.

The loss of one tooth leads to problems with the other teeth

Dental implants are certainly an effective solution for restoring the aesthetics and functionality of the smile. The absence of a tooth can compromise the aesthetics of the smile, but also its functionality. Missing teeth trigger bone resorption at the site, which can be prevented by implanting a single tooth. Bone loss varies from person to person, but in advanced cases it can unbalance dental occlusion.

In this way, neighboring and opposing teeth can move. For example, a person loses a back tooth in the lower arch and doesn’t replace it. The opposing upper tooth, which until then made contact with the lower tooth, loses its support and tends to move downwards over time. Dental malocclusion facilitates the development of problems such as plaque build-up, tooth decay and TMJ dysfunction. Therefore, the single loss of a tooth can lead to imbalances in neighboring teeth, and needs to be addressed with a dental implant.

See images of a single tooth implant below

Take a look at this dental implant treatment for a front tooth. Firstly, an individual dental implant was made and a temporary crown installed on the day of surgery. Secondly, after the dental implant had healed, we made the dental crown, a fixed zirconia prosthesis over the implant. Natural results and rapid rehabilitation.

Benefits of single tooth implants

Therefore, a single-tooth dental implant has many benefits over other treatment alternatives, the main ones being:

  • Neighboring teeth remain intact
  • The new crown is attached directly to the implant, which makes it possible to floss like a natural tooth
  • Excellent aesthetic and functional results
  • Ease of treatment, as the prosthetic components are prefabricated (approximately four sessions)
  • Unaffected by caries and infiltration
  • It is possible to place a temporary crown immediately after implant placement(immediate loading)
  • The installation of the implant prevents or stops bone resorption.

He is responsible for promoting knowledge and high technology applied in all the treatments offered by the ImplArt Dental Clinic.

Full Arch implants: 11 stages of treatment

Learn about the stages of treatment for full arch implant rehabilitation. A full dental implant is a treatment designed to rebuild a new smile when all the teeth in an arch or mouth have been lost. This type of treatment is also popularly referred to as a protocol prosthesis or All on four dental implants, the latter if it involves 4 implants.

The ImplArt Dental Clinic has extensive expertise in full-arch implant treatments, using the best materials to produce the fixed prosthesis for full arch implants in its own dental laboratory, using state-of-the-art computerized techniques. In this way, we offer our patients a choice of different types of dental implants, with different healing times. In addition, patients can choose between 5 different types of fixed prosthesis to be fitted over their implants.

The most modern prostheses today are made of zirconia and use a computerized system to create these highly resistant and aesthetically pleasing prostheses. In addition to zirconia prostheses, there is also the option of zirconia implants.

Most full arch implant cases follow the following treatment steps:

1 – An individual assessment of the case for full arch/full mouth implantation is carried out

Considering the patient’s general and oral health, the volume and quality of bone in the mandible/maxilla, aesthetics, gum shape, among other aspects. To assess bone volume, radiological examinations such as panoramic radiography and computed tomography will be requested.

This stage also verifies the need for bone grafting prior to implant surgery, as well as the need for medical supervision if the patient has pre-existing diseases that could interfere with the success of dental implant rehabilitation.

2 – Treatment proposal

Depending on the information collected and the patient’s expectations, we will present some alternatives for full arch implant treatment with different stages of treatment, techniques and possible materials. The recommended types of dental implant will be presented according to the patient’s case, and they will be able to choose according to their preference. Today there are very modern dental implants and healing times can take between 1 and 6 months, depending on the type. Implants from the Swiss brand Straumann are the ones with the shortest healing times.

3 – Preparing the mouth

With the aim of eliminating sources of infection, such as professional cleaning, treatment of cavities, tooth extractions and periodontal scraping.

4 – Preparation and molds

For provisional prostheses for total implants. The ImplArt dental clinic takes digital impressions with intraoral scanners (without mass).

5 – Installation of full arch implants

Through simple and painless surgery, the implants that will support the fixed prosthesis are inserted. The surgery takes place in a doctor’s office and the patient can go home immediately afterwards. There are modalities with local anesthesia, or with intravenous sedation, if the patient prefers.

There is also the option of performing dental implant surgery using the computerized guided surgery technique.

This technique eliminates the need to make large cuts and sutures in the gums, making the post-operative period easier and the recovery quicker.

The surgical guide acts as a template with indications of where the incisions should be made to place the dental implants. The surgical guide is custom-made according to the patient’s CT scan images, using a 3D printing method.

*Learnmore about dental implants: How is a dental implant done? How to get a dental implant ?

6 – Installation of the temporary prosthesis

On the same day or after a few days. This is one of the most important stages of treatment. The prosthesis can be fixed or removable, depending on the case. The preference is for a fixed temporary prosthesis, unless this is technically impossible.

This first provisional prosthesis for total implants does not always meet all the requirements of aesthetics and function because it is made under adverse conditions, such as pre-existing teeth that make molding difficult. If necessary, we will make new prostheses.

7 – Waiting period

It takes between one and six months for the implants to integrate into the bone (osseointegration) and for the gums to heal.

Complete dental implant
The first image shows the proof of the zirconia structure in the mouth, and the second shows the finished prosthesis with porcelain and a thin layer of artificial gum
Complete dental implant

8 – Start of the definitive prosthesis for total implants

If the implants are hidden under the gums, the first step is reopening surgery. This is a simple procedure that aims to expose the implants in the mouth. Then molds are made.

9 – Studies for the definitive prosthesis

For total implants, the aim is to find out which characteristics will be important in order to obtain the best aesthetics and functionality. When the characteristics of the final prosthesis are discussed, the color of the teeth, the shape of the teeth, the volume of the prosthesis and whether or not artificial gums are needed will be defined. The patient takes part in this process and will be able to see the stages of the treatment beforehand, as well as the final aesthetics. The dental implant prosthesis can be made of Zirconia, Porcelain or Resin, each with different characteristics, and the patient’s choice is made right at the start of treatment, so that planning is already carried out in anticipation of the definitive prosthesis.

10 – Delivery of the total implant prosthesis

With the approval of the patient and the dentist, the protocol prosthesis is then given as completed and all stages of the proposed treatment have been fulfilled.

11 – Total implant control and maintenance

Once all the treatment stages have been completed and the protocol prosthesis has been delivered, the patient should return every six months for a check-up and cleaning. Every twelve months we will request a panoramic radiograph to monitor the case internally. Even though the patient has had implants and, in many cases, has had all their natural teeth removed, they should still visit the dentist regularly every 6 months.

Specialist dental clinic – Day Clinic with specialized dentists

The ImplArt Dental Clinic provides Day Clinic services, because it has a team made up of the main dental specialties and a differentiated technological structure where it is possible to carry out everything from diagnostic examinations to complete oral rehabilitation with dental implants. At our dental clinic we offer various types of dental implants and dental crowns for patients to choose from.

The Day Clinic or Dental Spa is a type of service offered at Clinica Dentaria Implart. In this modality, a complete dental treatment is carried out intensively, seeking to solve different problems in the shortest possible time, often in just one day. It can be carried out with a team made up of dentists, implantologists, prosthodontists and other dental specialties.

Online consultation at the ImplArt Clinic

For those patients who come from far away to have their Day Clinic treatment at the ImplArt Dental Clinic, accommodation in São Paulo is part of the pre-arrival planning. We have therefore prepared a list of accommodation recommendations in São Paulo to help you plan your visit to ImplArt. To access these accommodation recommendations, go to: Accommodation for ImplArt Dental Day Clinic in SP.

What’s more, we’re able to carry out an online assessment prior to your arrival, so you’ll come to your treatment knowing what you need to do and how long you need to stay in São Paulo. This is done directly with our clinical director, Dr. Roberto Markarian, an implant dentist. See below how the online consultation at the ImplArt Clinic works:

We have staff who are fluent in other languages, so if you prefer we can serve you fluently in English and Spanish.

Day Clinic for quick dental treatments

The Day Clinic is ideal for people who have little time due to their daily activities, people who live in other cities and are working in São Paulo or people who suffer from odontophobia (fear of the dentist). Here are some of the treatments that can be carried out in one day at the ImplArt Day Clinic:

Fast-healing dental implants

The ImplArt Dental Clinic works with the modern Straumann Slactive implant, which has technology that not only favors, but also speeds up the healing process. This technology can be used in most cases, as long as the patient has favorable conditions that will be analyzed by our team;

Tooth replacement in 1 month with rapid implants and DayClinic

Rapid tooth replacement with dental implants

It is possible to replace a tooth by installing a dental implant with a CAD/CAM-designed crown within 1 month, in selected cases. This is possible because the ImplArt Dental Clinic works with Straumann Slactive implants. They have surface technology that favors and accelerates healing and the biological interaction between implants and bone (osseointegration).

A case of root fracture, for example, would require a dental implant as soon as possible, along with extraction. Successful osseointegration is what guarantees the stability of the implant to support the prosthesis and the masticatory load over the years. With normal implants, osseointegration usually occurs between 6 and 8 months. With Straumann Slactive implants, this time can be reduced to 3 to 4 weeks.

Will I lose a tooth during implant healing?

During this healing period, the patient wears a temporary prosthesis so as not to be left without a tooth. In the meantime, our prosthetics laboratory carries out the digital CAD/CAM design and manufacture of the definitive prosthesis using 3D printers. The design begins with a digital mold that is taken using an intraoral scanner, an intraoral camera that captures precise images of the patient’s mouth.

From these three-dimensional images, it is possible to design a prosthesis with the perfect fit and shape for tooth replacement. The prosthesis is made using a 3D printer. It can be made of porcelain, a very resistant, aesthetic material comparable to natural human teeth, and with a metal or zirconia internal structure.

Some people prefer to come twice to our clinic in a stage protocol for Implants instead of coming only once. This happens because if you stay for the full length of the treatment, you need to stay at least one month in Brazil but instead, if you choose a stage treatment you can come normally for one week and go back home. Then, after a few months, when you have availability, you can come again for another week and finish your work.

Find out more about our digital prosthetics laboratory.

It is worth noting that the possibility of tooth replacement with implant installation, gum grafting or bone grafting, with the definitive prosthesis in just 1 month, is only possible in selected cases.

An assessment by our specialized team will determine this possibility taking into account certain characteristics, such as bone volume and general state of health (in general, as well as of the teeth and gums).

The patient’s age can also influence the planning of dental implants. The rapid installation of a dental implant with a permanent crown for tooth replacement restores chewing ability, smile aesthetics and confidence in speaking and smiling.

Alternatives to dental implants for tooth replacement

As an alternative to implants, we can use dental prostheses in some cases. Adhesive dentures are a way of replacing a missing tooth. The main feature of this prosthesis is that it is attached to neighboring teeth using metal fins and dental adhesive.

If you have any questions about tooth replacement with dental implants, treatments for bruxism or average prices, please make an appointment or contact us. We’ll be happy to help you.

High-tech Straumann dental implants in Brazil

A dental implant is a titanium or all-ceramic pin that has a similar function to a tooth root, i.e. to provide support for the teeth. Over the years, dental implants have been developed with different shapes and compositions, in order to always seek better initial stabilization and durability throughout life. Currently, the fastest implant option is the Slactive dental implant version with rapid healing of 1 month. This means that one month after implant surgery, the final crown can be fitted.

We certainly can’t fail to mention the modern ceramic dental implant which, combined with the pure 3D zirconia crown, is the complete combination for metal-free oral rehabilitation. This treatment is especially suitable for people who are looking for excellence in aesthetic results, both when choosing dental implants and prostheses. In addition, it can be used for those patients who want to avoid the use of metals due to an allergic condition.

This option is gaining more and more ground as many patients want to eliminate the use of metal in their arches, either out of preference or even medical restrictions. There are currently several types of implant, each with its own characteristics, making it easier to choose according to the patient’s wishes. Let’s find out more about this very modern white implant option, which has allowed one version of the implant to be made of titanium.

Some high-tech implant models

The ImplArt Dental Clinic in Brazil only works with high-tech implants, including Straumann Swiss implants (which are widely considered to be the best in the world). Straumann offers a wide range of implants in a variety of shapes, diameters and lengths to meet a wide range of needs in implant dentistry.

Straumann Roxolid implants

Implants of reduced length and diameter, they are suitable for people with bone defects who do not want or cannot undergo bone grafting procedures. They are composed of a high-performance alloy, specifically designed above all to provide greater strength than pure titanium. They have excellent bone integration capacity.

Straumann Pure Ceramic Implants

Ivory-colored all-ceramic implants, so they resemble the shade of the tooth roots. They can be a treatment option for more apparent areas of the arch or patients with very thin gums. They can also be an option for treating patients who are sensitive to metals such as nickel.

Straumann Bone Level Implants

They have an internal prosthetic abutment connection, thus reducing manipulation of the gingival tissues. For this reason, they can be a treatment option for more apparent areas of the arches, as they provide a more aesthetic result.

Straumann SLA implants

They have a rough surface technology that provides an ideal structure for the adhesion of cells that stimulate and therefore accelerate the osseointegration process (bone formation and stabilization around the implant).

Straumann SLActive implants

They have surface technology that stimulates and accelerates the osseointegration process (bone formation and stabilization around the implant). They have a hydrophilic surface for the formation of blood clots in the implant.

The hydrophilic and chemically active properties of the SLActive surface provide a larger accessible surface area for greater absorption of blood proteins and formation of the fibrin network.

These are ideal conditions for blood clots to form and for the healing process to begin. All Straumann implants are made from safe materials that are certainly biocompatible with the human body.

Improve your quality of life with high-tech dental implants!

High-tech dental implants – Advantages?

Tooth loss can lead to aesthetic, functional and bone problems, so a quick replacement is essential. More advantages:

Dental implants – Contraindications (each case is assessed individually)

  • In patients with general health problems
  • When there is not enough bone to place the implant (can be solved with bone grafting techniques)

Dental implants: how are they done?

The titanium implants are installed into the bone through a small operation in the dental office, under local anesthesia. Once the dental implant is in place, it takes an average of 1 to 4 months to adhere to the bone (osseointegration), depending on the type of implant chosen.

In some high-tech Straumann implant models, osseointegration can occur in less time. Therefore, after this period, the molds for the installation of the fixed prosthesis on the implants can begin.

In some selected cases, the prosthesis can be placed on the same day as the surgery with immediate loading. If you have any questions, please contact us or make an appointment. We at ImplArt Implants Clinic will be happy to help you!
