Find out the most frequently asked questions about prostheses on implants
Are implants aesthetically pleasing?
In short, it depends a lot on the system used and the local conditions. Aesthetics have improved a lot in recent years. But it’s important to bear in mind that, however good the implant and the professional, the first is still a prosthesis on an implant, i.e. the replacement of natural teeth with artificial ones.
Therefore, expectations regarding implants are common, but can usually be followed by a certain amount of frustration. In many cases, the aesthetic solution is quite acceptable. Fortunately, there have been many advances, not only in the materials used to make prostheses, but also in techniques.
Nowadays we can build prostheses that look more and more like natural teeth. However, the main objective must always be functional. The implant is far superior to other prosthetic procedures, and in the absence of teeth, it’s the best we can do.
In simpler cases, some kind of temporary implant prosthesis is provided for the patient to use immediately after surgery. In the case of the totally edentulous, the period is limited to a few hours to a few days after the first surgery. In the second stage, once the implants have healed, the patient is not left without the prosthesis. In some cases, the immediate loading technique can be used.
Can I eat anything after the prostheses have been fitted? What if I fracture a tooth in the implant-supported prosthesis, is the implant lost?
Not everything can be eaten, but the restrictions are not too severe. Certain foods can even fracture natural teeth. In short, a diet with a minimum of care is sufficient to preserve the teeth of implant-supported prostheses. One positive fact is that repairing fractured teeth is relatively easy.
What happens if the implant (post) becomes mobile after the prosthesis (tooth) has been placed?
All mobility is progressive and indicates that the implant has been lost. Each case is assessed individually and, in principle, the implant can almost always be replaced. This event brings frustration not only for the patient, but also for the dentist. In fact, what happens is an increase in treatment time and, above all, the need to be patient in order to complete it.
I have a full upper prosthesis. I would like to know about the possibility of placing an overdenture without a palate. How many implants? What are the costs?
The overdenture without a palate is a good option because it makes the wearer feel more comfortable. To do this, at least four implants need to be placed. Another option is a fixed prosthesis on implants. This would require four to six implants.
The cost of this type of treatment is variable and it depends on tests to predict the availability of bone in the area. In other words, prices can only be given after a face-to-face consultation and an assessment of the particularities of each case.
I would like to know about the possibility of replacing two removable prostheses with staples with fixed prostheses without staples or implants. I would also like to eliminate the visualization of the staples in my smile.
A treatment like this appears to be of little complexity and can be completed in a short time, according to our Day Clinic philosophy. We always suggest that you also have your teeth whitened to make your whole smile whiter and more aesthetically pleasing.
I have two fixed bridges (one on each side) on the top and I have two implants started (the pins have been placed). I’d like to complete the implants and replace all my teeth with nice white ones, because mine are yellow and the bridges are old with the metal showing. I would also like to know how many days it would take to do a treatment.
I wear lower and upper dentures. Can I get my teeth back? Can you provide information on costs?
Nowadays it is possible to restore teeth even for people who have been wearing dentures for many years. There are many alternatives, especially dental implants. To get an estimate on the price of dental implants, you’ll need a face-to-face consultation and more detailed examinations, which can easily be carried out at our clinic.
Example of replacing a denture with a fixed zirconia prosthesis on implants
Should I go back to the dentist after having my teeth fitted?
At least one clinical radiographic check-up is required every year. It is also the patient’s obligation to attend these check-ups. Appointments are important to identify any problems in time for them to be reversed. They are also used to carry out professional cleaning of the prosthesis, to assess whether the user is performing daily oral hygiene properly, among other aspects that only a professional dentist can identify.
Will chewing ability improve after implants?
Above all, implants have much better functional results than dentures and removable prostheses. Patients who have been wearing dentures for a long time and have implants fitted feel the difference is very significant. The fixed implant prosthesis does not move and the patient certainly feels more comfortable and secure when chewing, speaking and smiling.
I’ve heard that porcelain is the best material for teeth. If I want an implant-supported prosthesis with porcelain teeth, would that be possible?
If you have any further questions about prostheses on implants, please contact us through one of the channels below or make an appointment. We’ll be happy to help you!
These are examples of questions frequently asked by patients. To clear up these doubts, it’s important to bear in mind a few points that go deeper than just the dental implant price. Here at Clinica Dentaria ImplArt, patients have their initial consultation directly with our clinical director, implant dentist Dr. Roberto Markarian, who clarifies all the information about implants during the first consultation.
Let’s follow more honest information about the price and cost of dental implants and prostheses and find out what influences the cost of implant treatment:
Dental implant costs can be determined by the type of dental implant used
There are currently several types of dental implants available and different types of dental prostheses, which give patients different options. The most suitable option for your case will be made in consultation, and your opinion will be very important in the final choice process. The characteristics of each material are presented so that the patient can choose with all the information about healing times and execution methods. In this regard, we should point out that there are everything from titanium implants to the modern ceramic implant, the only metal-free option and an excellent choice for those seeking biological dentistry.
There are fast-healing dental implants, such as the Straumann Slactive implant, as well as national implants with longer healing times. Therefore, your choice cannot be based solely on the price of an implant, but rather on a number of factors.
Dental implants how much ? How much does a dental implant cost? How much is a dental implant?
Of course, many of the calls and messages we receive relate to the cost of dental implants, total implants, dental contact lenses and dental treatments in general. And these questions above are the most frequently asked. How much the patient will spend on their dental implant treatment is undeniably one of the topics that causes concern for the patient.
However, it’s important to point out that there are currently several types of implants and prostheses, and that with so many options, it will certainly be easier to choose the ideal one for each case. We always try to explain that these questions can only be answered legitimately, through a dental consultation. There are two main reasons for this:
1. The first is that the Code of Ethics of the Federal Council of Dentistry forbade dentists from carrying out consultations in person. However, with the pandemic, online consultations with dentists were allowed. In this way, after an online consultation we will be able to provide you with an estimate of Dental implants how much they will cost
2. The second is that dental treatments can only be indicated after a careful assessment of the patient. There are numerous factors that influence treatment planning, for example:
Does the case require bone grafting or not? What type of implant will be chosen? Are there other treatment options available? What about the type of prosthesis? Immediate or delayed loading? Will a less invasive implant be used? Is it guided surgery, where a prior surgical guide is made?
The good news for those who live far away, whether abroad or in other states, is the possibility of making an initial consultation remotely, the online consultation.
Types of implants and crowns influence the value of dental implants / Dental implants how much ?
What’s more, many patients are unaware of the different types of implant, which, above all, can offer different recovery times and different indications. So there is a wide range of choices, and surely one will be right for you.
In this way, these more modern dentalimplants make it possible to shorten the treatment time with the rapid healing they offer.
It is also important to note that there are several types of prosthesis to be made on these dental implants, and the choice will be made jointly by the patient and specialist, depending on the desired results. Therefore, at your initial consultation, all the characteristics of each type of implant and prosthesis will be presented for your choice.
Type of implant chosen: The brand of post has an influence on How much does a tooth implant cost? The final cost of a dental implant treatment depends on a number of factors, such as the materials used, the qualifications of the professional, the technique used, among others. Therefore, the price of the total dental treatment will vary on the market.
How do I know the price of implant treatment? How much do dental implants cost?
First of all, it’s important to bear in mind that when it comes to quality dental treatments, the price of a dental implant can’t always be the deciding factor in the choice, but rather the quality of the service being offered. It is therefore essential that patients make their choice based on the trust and credibility of the clinic or professional providing the service, as well as the technical knowledge of the professionals, their years of practice and the technique to be used.
Undeniably, not every dental implant treatment is the same, firstly because of the differences in each case, and secondly because each professional has their own practice, technique and theoretical background. That’s why it’s very difficult to choose a professional based on price alone. If it’s too cheap, be wary! High-quality materials and qualified professionals have their value. Remember that the effort the professional has put into their qualifications throughout their career makes a direct difference to the outcome of your treatment!
How to measure the value of dental implants in the total dental treatment? what is the fair value/ Dental implants how much ?
As a result, we are able to offer the most modern technologies worldwide, which makes treatments more precise, faster and more comfortable for the patient. That’s why the ImplArt Implant Clinic is so sought after by patients who come from abroad, looking for the latest technology aligned with the best practices in dentistry worldwide, to carry out their intensive Day Clinic treatment. You should know that, for those who come from far away, it is possible to make an online consultation beforehand and with our technology, planning your dental implant surgery remotely is possible.
Dental implant and prosthesis techniques affect the value of dental implants
There are certainly several options for materials and techniques that influence the composition of a budget. What’s more, a treatment that may be suitable for one person may not be the right one for another.
Therefore, it is especially important to be assessed by a talented implant dentistry professional, who will evaluate each specific case and make the most appropriate recommendation to solve each case. Just to illustrate how treatment prices can vary, and the importance of a face-to-face assessment, at Clinica Dentária ImplArt we offer various dental implant options and different types of prostheses.
Short implants? Faster healing implants? Upon receiving a treatment recommendation, the patient will choose the type of implant and dental prosthesis they prefer with the dentist, after explaining the technical characteristics of each type.
The importance of an evaluation appointment to find out the cost of a dental implant
Another aspect that needs to be addressed is that patients may think they have a dental problem and believe that a particular treatment may be the most appropriate, but in reality it may be something else.
The dental surgeon is the professional who is qualified to look at oral health in general, as well as giving the necessary recommendations to keep teeth beautiful and healthy throughout life. That’s why it’s important to know that there is a wide range of options for solving the same problem.

Treatment planning involves various strategies and options of materials and techniques with different prices: cheaper or more expensive
At ImplArt Dental Clinic, we believe that dental treatment goes far beyond a simple monetary dental implant value.
There are important factors that influence cost-effectiveness, such as the health and well-being that a healthy set of teeth provides. We can mention the confident improvement in the patient’s self-esteem and the patient’s comfort during procedures with modern techniques and methodologies aimed at the patient’s well-being.
In this sense, the relationship of trust between patient and dentist, and above all our empathy for the patient, often brings with it anxieties, expectations, fears and even trauma from previous experiences. What do you think your smile is worth?
Frequently asked questions about dental implant prices and rehabilitation treatments
Does the Dental Implant Clinic charge for the first consultation?
Yes, the first consultation, the assessment consultation, has a cost. Without a doubt, it is important to note that the CRO, the Regional Council of Dentistry, classifies it as an ethical infringement to offer free consultations and diagnoses, as well as to display the cost of dental implants in a generic manner.
At the ImplArt Dental Clinic, the patient will be assessed by the clinic’s director, Dr. Roberto Markarian, who holds important academic degrees such as Master’s, Doctorate and Specialist in Prosthodontics and Implantology.
It is also important to note that our clinical director has extensive experience in thousands of treatments for functional and aesthetic oral rehabilitation, with dental implants and prostheses. He is also considered a benchmark in digital implants and prostheses, with 3D modeling, which is why we receive patients who come from all over the world in search of our quality of care, not just for the value of dental implants.
Because of his knowledge and credibility, he is sought out by patients from all over the world and is responsible for guiding the team of highly qualified specialists who make up the Clinic’s team. Therefore, it is from his experience and solid academic background that he will propose a solution to the patient’s problem, supported by the most modern practices in world dentistry.
What can be requested at the initial consultation?
In order to allow for an in-depth analysis of the case, the patient may be asked toundergo some radiological examinations to help with the diagnosis and treatment planning.
Of course, if the patient already has previous, recent tests (up to 1 year), these can be presented at the initial consultation. Undoubtedly, the examinations are a fundamental tool for a complete analysis of the patient’s needs and for determining the cost of the dental implant.
There are dentists who don’t charge for consultations, why do you?
First and foremost, we follow the rules of the CRO, the Regional Council of Dentistry, which specifies that dental services cannot be free of charge, in the same way as medical consultations.
Certainly the culture in dentistry is improving and the number of dentists who charge for consultations is growing. It’s important to make sure that, above all, the dentist who will be seeing you has studied at university and takes frequent postgraduate courses.
Your time is valuable, just as it is in other health professions. I’m sure you also want highly qualified treatment, and we have the technical knowledge and the latest technology to offer it.
Do you accept any dental plans?
In order to offer patients the most modern treatments, our treatments are private.
In fact, most dental plans don’t offer cover for dental prostheses, implants or aestheticprocedures, which are precisely the focus of our clinic. However, plans can be used for the reimbursement system or free choice, depending on the value of the dental implant.
There are certainly companies that offer this system to their employees. In this way, the patient pays for their treatment and then, through the specific procedures of each plan, receives part or all of the amounts paid, according to the rules of each plan. In this case, we offer support so that you can apply for reimbursement.
Can I send my tests by e-mail to get a better idea of the cost of treatment before I go to the clinic?
Nowadays, for those who live abroad or in other cities and want to schedule their trip to the Day Clinic for treatment , it is possible to have an online consultation (Teleodontology). What are the cases in which we can carry out an online consultation?
Care for patients who are already undergoing treatment and are unable to return to the office.
Obtain information on the best time to resume treatment for people in the coronavirus risk group
Attending to people from other cities, states or countries.
Patient monitoring between scheduled appointments
If you are in or passing through São Paulo, we remind you that face-to-face consultations are always more productive. Therefore, the online version of the consultation is intended primarily for those who are physically far away. Due to the rules of the CFO Council of Dentistry, we cannot publish the cost of dental implants.

The application of dental contact lenses is a modern technique that primarily serves to correct aesthetic problems in the teeth, making them more beautiful and uniform. This is one of the dental aesthetic procedures that the ImplArt dental clinic can carry out with more agility in Day Clinic service for patients who come from other states or even abroad.
What are dental contact lenses?
Dental contact lenses are very thin sheets of porcelain (only 0.2 mm thick) used to correct certain aesthetic problems with the teeth, such as stains, chips, exaggerated gaps between teeth (diastemas), very short teeth, asymmetrical teeth, among others.Dental contact lenses are therefore custom-designed on a computer and manufactured on 3D printers. They are made from computerized Emax porcelain, which is why they can be called Porcelain Lenses.
Porcelain is a biosecure material with visual characteristics very similar to natural teeth. Ultra-thin dental contact lenses are different from ordinary veneers, as they require less or no wear on the teeth to be applied. Other advantages of contact lenses at Day Clinic:
Completely painless procedure
Possibility of changing the shape, size and color of teeth
Preserves tooth structure
The lenses do not cause any discomfort to the chewing function
Long durability
There is no color change in porcelain over the years
How are dental contact lenses applied at the Day Clinic?
1 – ImplArt’s specialized professional takes a digital mold of the teeth using intraoral scanners.
2 – The result is then digitally simulated using software so that it can be presented to and approved by the patient;
3 – The approved model is then sent to the laboratory to have the ultra-thin, highly durable porcelain dental contact lens made. The lens is made using 3D printers, which guarantee the quality of the work;
4 – The dentist glues the dental contact lens with specific adhesive material to the front of the previously prepared tooth.
The Day Clinic service is a great option for people who want or need to solve aesthetic problems with their teeth in just a few days, such as during a quick trip to São Paulo or due to the proximity of an important event.
In less complex cases, the ImplArt dental clinic applies dental contact lenses with all the convenience of Day Clinic planning. Normally, this whole process takes between 7 and 30 days, but with ImplArt’s Day Clinic planning, this time can be reduced. The application of this technique, as well as the shortened time frame, depends on a clinical analysis to verify feasibility and ensure a good indication.

A dental implant is a titanium or all-ceramicpin, in the case of Straumann‘s ceramic implant, which is surgically placed in the bone and has the function of replacing the root of a lost tooth. A fixed prosthesis is installed over the dental implant, which has the function and appearance of a tooth. It is a modern, simple treatment that aims to bring comfort to the patient.
The Implart Dental Clinic is a dental clinic specializing in dental implants, and therefore has the most modern options for those who need oral rehabilitation.
Quality of life and self-esteem back with dental implants
What is a dental implant?
Treatment with dental implants aims to restore masticatory function as well as the aesthetics of the smile, which certainly gives people backtheir quality of life and self-esteem. After the dental implant is placed, its surface interacts with the bone, a phenomenon called osseointegration.
In short, it is responsible for the stability of fixed dental prostheses, offering the wearer security and comfort when chewing, speaking and smiling. This experience is completely different from using a mobile prosthesis, the so-called dentures, which for example can cause discomfort, move around and even hurt.
Dental implants: who can have them?
In principle, dental implants are indicated for almost all people who suffer from the absence of one, some or all of the teeth in an arch. Each person is assessed individually to determine the most suitable treatment.
The good news is that the ImplArt Dental Clinic, as an implant clinic, has the expertise and knowledge of the most modern surgical techniques to deal with almost all situations of missing teeth, even in people who have little bone volume. For these cases, there are short implants from the Swiss brand Straumann.
The new Standard Plus Short (SPS) implants from Straumann Implantes are the shortest pins available on the market (they are only 4mm long) and are indicated for patients who, for whatever reason, find themselves with limited bone availability.
Single implant, partial implant or total implant
A single tooth implant is used to replace a tooth that has been lost, usually due to an accident, root fracture, unsuccessful root canal treatment or decay. This tooth can almost always be replaced quickly using the immediate loading technique.
It is recommended that this tooth replacement be done as soon as possible to prevent bone loss, as losing a tooth and not having a dental implant can lead to bone loss and the movement of neighboring teeth, which can be aggravated by the absence of a tooth .
Advantages of single tooth implants:
Neighboring teeth remain intact
The new crown is attached directly to the dental implant, which makes it possible to floss like a natural tooth
Excellent aesthetic and functional results
Ease of treatment, as the prosthetic components are prefabricated
Unaffected by caries and infiltration
It is possible to place a temporary crown immediately after implant placement (immediate loading)
The installation of the implant prevents or stops bone resorption.
Losing multiple teeth can affect your ability to chew, as well as the beauty of your smile. The best option for replacing several teeth is undoubtedly to have dental implants fitted and a dental prosthesis fixed.
Total implants are recommended for people who have lost all their teeth. The loss is usually due to periodontal disease and inadequate oral hygiene. The implants are strategically distributed throughout the dental arch – ImplArt carries out the computerized planning of the guided total implant surgery.
The total implant treatment is able to bring the patient the incredible sensation of chewing and speaking safely and comfortably, as a fixed prosthesis that doesn’t move or hurt. The prosthesis will typically have a layer of artificial gum, but there are cases where the prosthesis can be made without the gum.
Due to scientific advances, it is now possible, in selected cases, to enter the office without teeth and leave at the end of the day with all your teeth fixed on dental implants (temporary prosthesis).
This technology, known as immediate loading, provides patients with great satisfaction due to its rapid results. In principle, immediately loaded implants can be used in the following cases:
Or immediate loading for a single tooth (mainly in the anterior region)
The dental implant technique with immediate loading can be carried out when bone quantity and quality are normal and also when occlusal habits are favorable for the procedure to be carried out so as not to overload the site with chewing.
Therefore, the immediate loading technique depends on certain conditions of the patient’s dental arch and general oral health. These conditions are assessed individually during a consultation.
Fixed implant prosthesis – types of materials
Implant treatment is the main form of aesthetic and functional rehabilitation for patients who have lost their teeth. The absence of one or more teeth compromises chewing, speech and the aesthetics of the smile, so a fixed prosthesis on implants is capable of restoring security and self-esteem to the edentulous person.
Rehabilitation basically goes through 3 relevant phases: the placement of dental implants, the healing phase (in which the patient uses a temporary prosthesis) and the finalization with the fixing of a definitive prosthesis on implants. We have a variety of materials that can be used to make a dental prosthesis:
Specialist dental clinic - Dental implants
Pure porcelain dentures (metal free)
It is an opaque white ceramic structure called zirconia, covered with an aesthetic porcelain sculpted to the shape of the teeth. It is a new and technologically innovative material, as the prosthesis is completely designed on a computer and made with the help of electronic scanners and 3D printers.
It is the material that offers the best aesthetic results because it does not contain metals. Porcelain has very similar characteristics to natural teeth, including shade, translucency and strength.
Metal-ceramic dentures (porcelain + metal)
This is a prosthesis with an internal metal structure (titanium, Ni-Cr or Cr-Co) and an aesthetic porcelain finish that is hand-sculpted in the shape of the teeth. Its advantage is the resistance and aesthetics of the porcelain, which leaves the prosthesis with an aesthetic and beauty similar to natural teeth.
It has a small disadvantage compared to pure porcelain prostheses, which is the possibility of a grayish line appearing at the level of the gums, if the patient suffers some gum recession over time, which can lead to an aesthetic compromise in the smile.
However, it has advantages over resin prostheses, such as better durability and resistance to wear, as well as no color changes over time.
Acrylic Resin (resin + metal)
Also known as the Bränemark protocol prosthesis, this model has an internal metal structure and an aesthetic resin finish. The teeth are made of resin and you can choose the color, shape and size of the teeth.
This material has one disadvantage compared to the previous ones, which is the possibility of color change (yellowing) over time. The choice of prosthesis material should be made jointly by the dentist and patient. Watch the video on prosthetic materials for dental implants:
Do dental implants hurt?
The dental implant procedure is easier than you might think! Advances in techniques mean that dental implant surgery today is less invasive, avoiding excess tissue damage, pain and discomfort.
During the surgery, the patient feels no pain because it is performed under local anesthesia. In addition, ImplArt uses techniques that reduce discomfort during surgery and make the recovery period more peaceful.
ImplArt also uses Piezosurgery surgical ultrasound, which cuts through hard tissues such as bone and preserves soft tissues such as gums, nerves, membranes and blood vessels.
This system allows the surgeon greater surgical precision and better visibility during surgery.
Price and value of dental implant treatments and dental aesthetics │ Dental implant average price
We often receive calls, emails and messages from people asking about the price and value of dental implants and dental treatment . We always try to explain that these questions can only be answered through a dental consultation.
In short, there are three main reasons for this: the first is that the Code of Ethics of the Federal Council of Dentistry prohibits dentists from carrying out consultations in person. The second is that dental treatments can only be indicated after a careful assessment of the patient.
The good news is that for those who live far away, abroad or in other states, there is the option of a preliminary online consultation.
There are numerous factors that influence the planning of a treatment. There are also various options for materials and techniques that influence the composition of a budget. In addition, a treatment that may be suitable for one person may not be the most appropriate for another.
The third is the importance of being assessed by a professional dentist. Often patients think they have a dental problem and believe that a particular treatment may be the most appropriate, but in reality it may be something else.
The dentist is the professional qualified to look at oral health in general, as well as giving the necessary recommendations to keep teeth beautiful and healthy throughout life. The qualified implant dentist is also able to recognize, in most cases, the types of dental implants that exist by evaluating the panoramic radiograph.
We at ImplArt believe that dental treatment goes far beyond a simple monetary value.
There are important factors that influence a cost-benefit ratio, such as the health and well-being that healthy teeth provide, improved self-esteem, patient comfort during procedures, the relationship of trust between patient and dentist, and our empathy for the patient, who often brings with them anxieties, expectations, fears and even trauma from previous experiences. What do you think your smile is worth?
Is there a charge for the first consultation?
Yes, we charge for the first consultation. The patient will be assessed by the director of the dental clinic, Dr. Roberto Markarian, who has extensive experience in treatments for functional and aesthetic oral rehabilitation, with dental implants and dental prostheses.
If necessary, the patient may be asked to undergo some radiological examinations to help with diagnosis and treatment planning.
For your convenience, some of the main dental exams can be carried out in the clinic (at a separate cost). If you already have previous exams, please bring all recent ones (up to 1 year old) to your appointment, as they will be of great help.
My dentist doesn’t charge, why do you?
We follow the rules of the CRO, the Regional Council of Dentistry, which specifies that dental services cannot be free, in the same way as medical consultations. The culture in dentistry is changing and the number of dentists who charge for consultations is growing.
The dentist who will be attending you has studied at university and takes frequent postgraduate courses, so their time is valuable, just as it is in other health professions.
Do you accept any dental plans?
At the moment we do not accept dental insurance or any type of plan. Most dental plans don’t offer cover for dental prosthesis, implants or aesthetic procedures, which are precisely the focus of our clinic.
We only accept plans for the reimbursement system orfree choice. There are companies that offer their employees this system, in which they will later receive the amounts paid. There is some bureaucracy involved, but we can help.

Zirconia crowns are dental prostheses indicated for restoration and dental rehabilitation in people whohave had damage to one or more teeth. Rehabilitation with dental crowns aims to restore the aesthetics and functionality of the smile, improving not only chewing, the appearance of the teeth, but also self-esteem.

Zirconia crowns: excellence for aesthetic results
However, some materials used to make dental crowns are not strong enough to be used in patients suffering from bruxism. As is well known, bruxism is a disorder of oral function movements, characterized mainly by involuntary grinding or clenching of the teeth.
Translucent pure zirconia crowns
Pure zirconia crowns. Translucent zirconia is 10 times stronger than ordinary porcelain.
It occurs mainly during sleep. This excessive load on the teeth and musculoskeletal structures of the face can cause problems with the teeth and correct occlusion in general.
Although the cause of bruxism is not very clear, it is certain that this condition most often affects people who suffer from emotional problems, such as stress, anxiety and excessive worry.
Just as the excessive force generated by bruxism can wear down teeth, it can also damage dentures made of certain materials.
In these cases, our team has the option of recommending porcelain crowns with a pure zirconia internal structure, which are proven to be more resistant and can withstand a greater load, even in patients with bruxism.
Zirconia acquires this strength because it goes through a controlled process called sintering, which is heating it at a high temperature in a special furnace. This process modifies its particles, creating a solid and very strong prosthetic piece. Other properties of crowns with a pure zirconia structure:
How do I know if I can have a crown with pure zirconia even if I have bruxism?
First of all, it’s important to assess the degree of oral impairment that bruxism has caused so far. If you have untreated bruxism for many years, there may be advanced wear of the dental crowns and/or root fractures.
Therefore, before receiving prosthetic crowns to rehabilitate and restore your smile, you will probably need to undergo treatment to correct these defects (e.g. root canal treatments, vertical dimension increase, clinical crown increase). Dr. Markarian, our general manager, saysthat controlling bruxism is essential to avoid future problems and porcelain crowns with a pure zirconia structure may be indicated.
ImplArt Odontologia has its own dental laboratory with the Cerec 3D, Cerec Primemill, Trios 3Shape and Ceramillsystems, which speed up the fabrication of crowns with pure zirconia and metal-free ceramics, in some cases even in just a few hours in an ImplArt Day Clinic or Dental Spa, where you can carry out the largest number of dental procedures in just one appointment or in just a few days. This way, patients can set aside a day in their schedule or a few days in a week to dedicate to dental treatment, without it taking months to complete.

When extractions are unavoidable due to periodontal disease, it is likely that teeth will need to be replaced with dental implants. However, dental implants can only be placed immediately after periodontitis has been treated. If the disease is not well controlled, the success of rehabilitation with dental implants will be compromised.
Periodontal disease (periodontitis) without proper treatment can lead to tooth loss. This is because the bacterial infection gradually destroys the structures that support the teeth. As a result, the teeth soften and, depending on the case, are unable to be maintained.
This is what is known as peri-implantitis, i.e. infection around the implants. Peri-implantitis hinders osseointegration (a phenomenon necessary for implant fixation) and can lead to implant loss.
Immediately after tooth extractions, the surgeon assesses whether the bone and gum structures are compromised through clinical and radiographic examinations. He may perform minor surgery to clean the area and administer antibiotics to control the infection. The patient is instructed to maintain proper oral hygiene. In the meantime, the patient can wear a temporary prosthesis. The recovery time for periodontitis is not established, as it depends on each case.

Replacing teeth with dental implants
If the bone loss after periodontitis is reasonable, dental implants can even be immediately loaded (in selected cases). If bone loss is severe, it may be necessary to perform a bone graft to rebuild the structure before placing the implants.
Unfortunately, this process is not so quick, as it is primarily necessary to wait for complete healing (from 3 to 6 months on average). After dental implants have been placed, clinical follow-up is particularly important in these cases, in order to prevent periodontitis from returning.
Dental visits should be more frequent for patients with a history of periodontal disease than in cases where tooth loss has occurred for other reasons. The surgeon may order additional imaging tests to monitor the osseointegration of the implant. Care should be taken with oral hygiene at home.
This treatment, when carried out by a specialized team and together with the patient’s valuable collaboration in terms of oral hygiene, correct use of medication, regular visits to the clinic and the patience to wait for the results, has a high chance of success.
The ImplArt Dental Clinic specializes in replacing teeth with implants after periodontal disease. Its team is made up of serious periodontists and implant dentists, trained at the country’s leading universities.
Dr Roberto Markarian, implant dentist, is the creator and director of the ImplArt Dental Clinic. The ImplArt Dental Clinic is certainly one of the main centers of technology in aesthetic oral rehabilitation and implantology in Brazil. As a result of its know-how and high technology, the ImplArt dental clinic receives patients from all over the world who are looking for high technology and knowledge to carry out their dental implant treatment.
Our clinical director holds a doctorate in implant dentistry, a master’s degree in prosthodontics, and two specializations in dental implants and prosthodontics. In addition, he has completed several training courses in the field of dentistry, not only in Brazil, but also abroad.

Dr. Roberto Markarian is a reference in dental implants and computerized dental prostheses in Brazil. As well as having more than 10,000 implants installed, he is a researcher who produces knowledge that is published worldwide in renowned scientific journals in the field of dentistry. He is responsible for promoting knowledge and high technology applied in all the treatments offered by the ImplArt Clinic.
There are different materials that can be used to build a dental prosthesis, the main ones being: resin with a metal internal structure (metalloplastics/Branemark protocol), ceramic with a metal internal structure (metalloceramics) and the most aesthetic option which is ceramic with a metal-free dental zirconia internal structure (metal free).
Therefore, among the possible materials for dental prostheses, we have:
resin with an internal metal structure – this is known as metalloplastic or Branemark protocol,
ceramic with an internal metal structure – this is called metal-ceramic,
The most aesthetic option is ceramic with a metal-free dental zirconia structure, also known as metal free.

The evolution of aesthetic dentures
Most total or partial infrastructures are made with metal alloys that play the role of mechanical and functional support. However, their dark color can compromise the final aesthetics, especially in areas that are more apparent and important to patients.
As a result, metal-free ceramic structures are gaining ground, mainly because they achieve a more aesthetic result and because of their biocompatibility, resistance and stability.
Dental ceramics and zirconia are considered the most advanced materials because they do not contain metals in their composition, which provides an aesthetic dental prosthesis that is much more similar to natural teeth.
Zirconia teeth can be single, bridged or full-arch, installed on teeth or on dental implants.
A zirconia dental prosthesis is made to perfectly mimic dental and gum tissues. Above, the zirconia prosthesis designed, and below, the prosthesis installed. Both the color and the shape were designed individually and jointly between the patient and the implant dentist.
Dental zirconia is a white, resistant ceramic material used to build the structure of the prosthesis. A layer of porcelain is applied to this structure, which makes the prosthesis similar to natural teeth in terms of translucency, texture and shade.
As zirconia is white, the prosthesis has a similar shade and translucency to natural teeth, even when exposed to light.
New types of more translucent dental zirconia allow for the complete fabrication of dental prostheses by computer, without the need to apply porcelain manually.
The shade of zirconia is comparable to natural human dentin. In contrast, the same result cannot be achieved with a prosthesis containing a metal framework.
This is because bone and gum changes naturally occur over the years, and this remodeling can expose a small portion of the metal of the prosthesis and thus cause aesthetic damage to the smile.
Another advantage of zirconia is that prostheses made from this material are completely computer-engineered and executed on 3D printers using Cad/Cam systems. This allows prostheses to be made more quickly and accurately.
For your convenience, ImplArt Odontologia has its own digital prost hesis laboratory that develops dental zirconia prostheses. Make an appointment and find out if this technique is right for you. We would be delighted to hear from you!
